Tell us about your role as a Sales & Enablement Leader…what does this entail exactly?

A Sales Enablement Leader is responsible for setting the strategy, objectives and goals for an organisation’s sales team and to design, create and deliver programmes, processes and tools which support the effectiveness and readiness of the sales team.
Sales enablement programmes start with onboarding a new sales person –  providing sales training, product knowledge, access to productivity tools and marketing collateral, and ensuring that the sales person ramps up quickly to deliver their KPIs and achieve sales quota.
Sales Enablement Leaders also play a pivotal role in influencing and inspiring sales teams to work towards mastery, rapid results, ongoing personal development and skill improvement.

What do you think are the traits of a Leader?

  • Passion
  • Integrity
  • Collaborative Approach
  • Effective Communication
  • Empathy
  • Team Focus
  • Positivity

How important is networking and community involvement whether you are a business professional or own a business?

Networking provides a fantastic opportunity to promote your unique strengths and abilities which differentiate you and your business.  This personal approach creates powerful personal connections and strengthens long term relationships.  Simply advertising your business or creating an online personal profile limits your ability to build credibility and trust and narrows your sphere of influence.  People do business with people they know and trust, so widening your reach through meeting people and sharing something of yourself, is by far the best way to remain memorable, to build your audience and to harness the power of referrals and recommendations.
Community involvement not only delivers great personal satisfaction, it also promotes the values which represents your business.  Values such as: inclusiveness, service orientation, responsibility and commitment show that your business has a heart.

Who inspires you and why?

I’m inspired by Michelle Obama, as she has been quietly determined and ambitious since childhood and she has worked hard and has held herself accountable for reaching her academic and career goals despite humble beginnings.
She has never compromised her motherhood, her femininity, humility or authenticity even though she has achieved greatness and celebrity status.

So what’s next on the cards for Kym Cousins… what’s in the pipeline?

I’m really excited to be in the midst of writing a book which is due to be published by the middle of 2019!  It’s a self-help book for reluctant sales people.  I’ve been developing the content for the book in conjunction with corresponding training workshops which centre on developing self-awareness of your authentic, natural sales style and learning how to adapt your sales communication to engage your customers’ buying personality and motivations.

If your life was a book what would it be called?  “Silver Linings – Positivity wins every time.”
What’s one thing you do for you every day?

I do some form of exercise every day – either at the gym for a cycle class, Yoga or Pilates, a long walk along the beachfront, or at the very least I spend time on the floor doing stretching exercises.

What quote or mantra do you live by?

“If it’s to be, it’s up to me”
