Talking Leadership Matters

Talking Leadership Matters

Passion is visible. People can see it emanating from you. They’re drawn to the positivity, curious about why you believe in what you’re doing”.

This quote by Tom Popomaronis is a true reflection of me as a leader and how I feel I shine the light of leadership within society.

Having the opportunity to work for a non-profit membership organisation like the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand (IML ANZ) who are the gold standard-setting professional body for management and leadership competence and excellence.

We passionately believe that great leadership is the first step towards a better society and over the last 76 years, we have been supporting professionals on their leadership journey in keeping with our vision – “Creating better managers and leaders for a better society”.

My role as the Head of Relationship Management – Queensland and Northern Territory is based on three key components of interaction – Engagement, Delivery and Operation.

To do this I need to understand the why! My why is so important as it sets the bar for what and how I deliver on the outcomes of my role to my team, members and society. My why is knowing what empowers my team, members and society in creating better managers and leaders.

Leading a large team is extremely rewarding and can be challenging but what makes a great leader is a great team beside them. I have a great team who are diverse, inclusive to the needs and requirements of the communities we provide and support with great leadership programs and events.

I have an opportunity each day to empower and inspire my team and communities to be better managers and leaders by building relationships with each one of them.

We as a team are the foundation, working together embracing each of our professional and corporate members, understanding and knowing their needs and why they want to be a part of IML and how IML can assist them in furthering their career journey.

Leadership Matters, it represents who we are and how we behave each day. As a woman in a leadership position, I’m passionate about women stepping forward and being the best, they can be professionally and personally.

IML celebrates women in leadership via our annual International Women’s Day events seeking to change society for the better by creating, supporting and championing women in leadership.

#BalanceForBetter – with company policies like affirmative action, maternity leave and blind recruitment helping to combat the pay gap and the glass ceiling, Australia is making progress towards equal representation of gender in business. While there is still considerable progress to be made, it seems that the importance of gender equality is now more widely embraced then ever in business and beyond.

Through international movements like the Women’s Marches and high-profile campaigns like #MeToo, women in leadership have changed the world for future generations.

Our events across, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Sydney and Melbourne promise to be inspiring, entertaining and thought-provoking.

Join us on 8 March 2019 to celebrate women in leadership.
