Leading in a Changing Environment
Leading in a Changing Environment
By Charmaine Grant – Head of Regional Management Australia,
Institute of Managers and Leaders
This is my first time I have had to lead my team through a major global disruption, I have been feeling anxious and uncertain.
Understanding that challenges will vary for each organisation and individual, at IML we are committed to providing easy-to-access tools that will support and guide managers to lead their people through this difficult period.
We believe that IML should lead the way in terms of workplace health and safety, our IML’s Leadership Team implemented several prudent and sensible measures. These measures are designed to protect the health and safety of our staff whilst they are working from home. These measures ensure that working for IML does not expose our staff to an increased risk of harm.
As IML adjusts to the changing environment and period of change, we have modified our delivery methods, postponing our face-to-face experiences and placing a greater emphasis on virtual learning experiences.
The feedback we have had from virtual learning experiences has been overwhelmingly positive and with each workshop available to only 25 people, our facilitators are looking forward to delivering these sessions.
Sessions we have available are –
- Leading and Managing Virtual Teams – More organisations are using technology to allow people to work from home and our challenge as a manager is to lead people effectively in this new, virtual reality. By embracing new ways of working with our individual team members using technology whilst still applying the fundamental principles required for high performing teams.
- Leading Change in Difficult Times – Now more than we need to look at how to best navigate this volatile and uncertain time. What steps you can take to keep your team moving ahead. How will helping teams work virtually, stay focused, make decisions and get things done. Explore some best practice tips for managers and leaders in these unprecedented times.
- Innovate Through Uncertainty – With a customer-centric approach you can create better ways to deliver successful solutions in times of uncertainty. Encourage teams to push past the status quo by using customer insights to drive and guide the development of new offerings.
- Difficult versus Different – Utilising the popular DiSC tool and its framework as a guide, this session helps to understand your own style, the style of others and how to adapt more appropriately for better workplace outcomes.
- Building and Maintaining Resilience – For those of you who are leading and managing teams you will be expected to help them stay engaged and productive even when their working methods may be different to the norm. Your challenge is twofold; to stay resilient and motivated yourself and develop strategies to help members of your team.
- Communicate with Clarity in Times of Crisis – Gain the necessary skills and techniques to understand communication in times of crisis. An opportunity to communicate effectively rather than requiring reactive crisis communication.
All Virtual Masterclasses are live and available on our IML website.
Here at IML we are leading by example and making a difference in our method of delivery.
