Tell us a little bit about your role and what you are working on now, and how did you get there?
I am the CEO of “Shari Hall LIFE”– and I know it sounds funny, but I believe within us all is a unique and authentic story meant to be shared with the world to benefit and enhance the lives of others. My recent projects have included writing and executive producing my fourth studio album, “Hope” in 2020, and writing and self-publishing my book, “Perfect Love – One Woman’s Journey from Flesh to Faith: A Musical Memoir.” It’s been a long and arduous journey from my humble beginnings, raised in 1960s America as a multiethnic child of a Caucasian mother and African-American father, to my current life in Australia. However, it was through a constant desire to learn, grown, and improve myself and others that I was able to become the authentic self I am today, craving to shine in this world and serve as a bright inspirational light for others as well.
What traits do you feel are important to be an effective leader?
Compassion, authenticity, and resilience.
Tell us about the issues and items that you are passionate about and how you prioritise?
I have always been a servant leader who is passionate about helping others to live a spiritually, physically, and psychologically balanced and joyful life. While my priority has been to serve others throughout most of my life, I realised long ago, that if I didn’t make myself the priority, I could not be the best I could be to do that. So – priority number one is me – love, support, encourage, inspire myself; eat well, sleep enough, drink water, exercise, give thanks and pray, and meditate daily to fuel my body and soul. If I do that FIRST, I am in a much better position to serve and inspire others.
What made you want to decide to write a book?
Since I was a child, I realised that the lyrics of the songs I wrote often narrated the struggles and triumphs in my life. After completing my first album “Perfect Love”, it became evident that each song on the album was inspired by the stories of my life journey. There were lessons learned and wisdom gained through those experiences, and it was a natural progression to consider putting pen to paper and share those life lessons with others.
What decision changed your life?
The decision to become a doctor and then later set that aside to step into my authentic self – a creative soul.
And what’s next on the agenda for Shari Hall?
Marriage! Then, Motivational speaking, many more books, and continuing to sing/write songs. And of course, to always be the best mother I can be to my now 3 amazing daughters!
Most interesting person that you have met?
My children Cedar and Nikki – every day, they teach me more about myself, the world, and how to be loving, forgiving, understanding, and supportive. They are fiercely independent and intelligent, as well as feminine, beautiful, and strong. They are wise beyond their years, and resilient against the many challenges life throws at them every day. I am so proud of them.
Favourite movie?
The Sound of Music
What mantra do you live by?
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” (Matt 22:37-39, ESV)
