SHINE’ing the Spotlight on… Kylie Jorgensen
Kylie is an Account Manager who has a broad set of skills in marketing, including; project management, social media, content creation and copywriting.
With a passion for entrepreneurship and working with varying scaled businesses every day, Kylie aspires to run her own business within the near future.
She has a degree in Communications (Majoring in Marketing and Public Relations) and hopes to leverage her own skills and experience to build a business that truly makes a difference.
Kylie is a big believer in helping others and doing what is right. This is where her passion for Atea Designs was born, noticing a gap in the market which touches on human ethics, diversity, inclusion, as well as, equality.
Kylie is driven to help businesses build their brand and unearth new insights day to day, so there’s really no stopping her from investing this same level of care and passion into her ‘soon to be’ fashion line.
Kylie, you are one of the entrants in this year’s Generation Innovation program… tell us about this and what made you decide to enter?
I entered the GI challenge as I was seeking further guidance and support on how to start my own business. I’ve always been super entrepreneurial, however was at a loss on how to progress and begin this exciting journey.
And can you tell us about ATEA Designs and the concept or reasoning behind?
The Atea designs concept stemmed from my own frustrations in seeking attractive, nude lingerie that matched my olive skin tone. I was quick to realise through my own research that the fashion industry was yet to jump onto inclusive, nude products with varying shades.
You’ve been juggling a full time marketing role and also planning for your ‘business idea’. What are some of the strategies you use to keep focused or on track and not stressed?
Have a to-do list! Set daily reminders and consistently set personal (small, yet achievable) goals.
How important is contribution to your community to you and why do you feel this is important?
To instil positive change, we need to be more inclusive and considerate of others. By highlighting this one issue, I can hopefully encourage others to think more about social norms and how we can always continue to improve and do better.
And what’s next on the agenda for Kylie Jorgensen?
Continuing my business! Working with investors and sourcing manufacturers to progress my idea (even after GI Challenge)
Favourite movie?
I absolutely LOVE fast and furious Tokyo drift.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I love going to the beach, free diving, hiking, fishing and exploring!
