To Myself Be True
To Myself Be True

Why is it that often in life we work so hard to make others lives around us just perfect? That can be on the home front as well as on the business front. We receive accolades and comments like “wow what would I do without you” “You are the backbone of our family” “life would just not work without you doing what you do” these are lovely and make us feel great, but at what cost to our own self do these comments come.
At some point we have to learn to respect and love ourselves enough to know what it is that we want and need to be the very best version of ourselves. I share this because I did not listen to anyone or the signs of poor health starting. Several years ago, while I was running my stores, I was told by the Doctor I was borderline diabetic, maybe I could beat it if I lost weight, started eating healthy and exercised, but I would have to get serious with it. I ignored all the signs and warnings, and nothing changed because I honestly believed all would be okay. I don’t have enough word time to share it all but to cut a long story short I nearly lost my foot, it was close, all because I didn’t listen.
Fast forward a few years – am I perfect now? Hell no, but I am so much better than I was and I’m still learning everything about putting myself first. You see the thing is if we are not strong, we can’t be strong for others, it really is that simple. We think we are being the hero but in fact we are being not only unfair to ourselves but to all those that need and want us in their lives for as long as possible, because they love us.
So how do we change, what do we do, here are a few thoughts:
1/ All those doctor’s appointments that you have been putting off, make them today, go on, please pick up the phone now and make them. Mammogram, pap smear, eyes, teeth, skin, general health and wellbeing and then as you leave make a follow up appointment and put it straight in your diary. How easy and organised is that, well done please congratulate yourself on putting yourself as a priority today.
2/ Say NO you simply can’t do everything. Work out what is really important, and you need to learn to say NO to the rest. Again, put YOU first.
3/ Create a great life routine, this is so personal but make sure it includes exercise, healthy eating, time off, get togethers for your heart rejuvenation and whatever else you need. When you do it depends on your time schedule.
4/ Learn to delegate, stop controlling the world, give up some of it, trust me from a massive control freak it feels awesome.
5/ Let go of everything no longer needed in your life, keep what makes you happy, powerful and feeling fabulous (sorry you can’t let your kids go, just remember it is never too late to change bad habits)
6/ Get a really clear Clarity on who you want to be and what changes you need to make to be HER. It is possible and you can do it.
Please… small steps, small changes, focus on YOU and your World will change for the better
Lots of love TM xx
