SHINE’ing the Spotlight on… Alex Hyndman
Alex Hyndman’s background is in cabinetmaking! Her father was a cabinetmaker and when she left school she started working for him. Alex taught myself how to do the accounting and worked herself up to managing the business. She also attended the School of Interior Design and used her skills to design high end kitchens for 12 years.
Alex is married to her teenage sweetheart and they have 3 beautiful boys together. The Hyndman’s live at the beach, over in beautiful New Zealand, and they enjoy spending time as a family outside and going on adventures.
Alex has worked with Twenty8 as their General Manager for the last 18 months and has really enjoyed using her business skills to enhance the business
Alex, tell us about the different areas that you work and what makes you tick?
I get the joy of working across all areas of the business. You can find me in the packing room preparing orders to go out, in different cities across Australia managing events with Kim Morrison, or at my desk working on a new product or updating our website
You are constantly travelling for work – how do you bring balance into your life and manage the juggle or work and family?
I’m incredibly lucky to be married to an amazing man who is happy to step up and take care of our family and household when I am away. I enjoy my job so much, so when I am away I enjoy being able to be in the role 100% and focus on ensuring it is as amazing as it can be
You obviously love essential oils and self-care, can you share with us your favourites and why?
For me I love the Twenty8 Skincare. It is the first skincare I can honestly say my skin has enjoyed! I love using the cleanser day and night and the face lift serum is the ultimate for me. I really love the ease of the Synergy blends, I don’t have to think about it at all I can just be guided by my smell and know that as soon as the diffuser goes on the whole house can benefit
What self-care tips to you recommend to help people reduce stress of daily life?
I think creating any ritual no matter how small can significantly reduce stress. The simple art of putting something like “Instant Calm” into the diffuser and turning it on can set the atmosphere into a calming space. Our Body Boosting ritual is also a game changer!
And what’s next on the agenda for Alex Hyndman?
I’m really excited to continue our “Essential Self Care Retreat” tour this year. We still have Echuca, Sunshine Coast, Hobart and NZ to go and I’ll be scheduling return visits to all of the ones we have done this year also!
Favourite book and why?
I couldn’t choose – I’m an avid reader and enjoy so many different genres
Coast or City?
Coast – Take me to the beach!
Who would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet my Grandmother. My father’s mum, she died very young and I have always thought of her.
