ABOUT THE SHINE SIGNATURE SERIES
Our SHINE Business Women mission has always been to Support, Help, Inspire, Nuture & Empower ALL women in business, regardless of their age, level, experience, stature or status. We focus on professional and personal development opportunities to assist women to develop, grow and expand their potential, whether it be in their own business, as an employee or their community.
In recent months (and in fact years), globally we have been presented with more issues and challenges than ever before. It's not that they haven't been there, but now people are SHINE'ing a Spotlight on these issues, building awareness and highlighting the need for change. We have found it distressing that so many people (regardless of gender) have been suffering or experiencing hardship and do not know where to turn; in our own backyards, in our regions, in our country and around the world.
In short, we want to DO something and contribute to our community and Support, Help, Inspire, Nurture & Empower wherever possible and we have decided to launch our SHINE Signature Series - a Ladies Long Lunch that will be held twice a year, fundraising and supporting those in need, and also building awareness on some of these issues. No matter where we live, we are not immune and often we are surrounded by people who need our help, and it is vital to contribute and assist where we can. We can all make a difference!
ABOUT OUR 30TH JULY 2021 - LONG LADIES LUNCH
We are coming together so that like-minded ladies can enjoy a welcome drink and delicious two course lunch, socialise and join together (if they wish) in a range of activities to raise funds and build awareness on the impact of domestic violence in our community.
Hosted by 92.7 Mix FM's Caroline Hutchinson, we shall hear from special guest speakers including Kristina Ruth - author of the recently released The Self-Preservation Guide.
We shall have a prize raffle on the day and just by coming along, you will have donated $50.00 to our local charity SunnyKids*.

*SunnyKids provides thousands of nights of emergency accommodation, as well as domestic violence and referral counselling to keep kids safe.

Key statistics on violence against women in Australia
On average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner.
1 in 3 Australian women (30.5%) has experienced physical violence since the age of 15.
1 in 5 Australian women (18.4%) has experienced sexual violence since the age of 15.
1 in 3 Australian women (34.2%) has experienced physical and/or sexual violence perpetrated by a man since the age of 15.
1 in 4 Australian women (23.0%) has experienced physical or sexual violence by current or former intimate partner since age 15.
1 in 4 Australian women (23.0%) has experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner.
Australian women are nearly three times more likely than men to experience violence from an intimate partner.
Almost 10 women a day are hospitalised for assault injuries perpetrated by a spouse or domestic partner.
